List of the Mammals recorded at Kinewell Lake
- Hedgehog, Erinaceus europaeus: Common
- Mole, Talpa europaea: Numerous mole-hills. An adult mole was found burrowing near the lake November 1999
- Common Shrew, Sorex araneus: Common
- Water Shrew, Neomys fodiens: One record after the Easter 1998 floods
- Noctule, Nyctalus noctula: Common
- Pipistrelle, Pipistrellus pipistrellus: Very common
- Rabbit, Oryctolagus cuniculus: Very common
- Grey Squirrel, Sciurus carolinensis: Occasional in trees
- Field Vole, Microtus agrestis: Common
- Water Vole, Arvicola terrestris: Possibly returning to the river
- Wood Mouse, Apodemus sylvaticus: Common
- Fox, Vulpes vulpes: Regular
- Stoat, Mustela erminea: Regular
- Otter, Lutra lutra (pictured right): Spraints found
- Badger, Meles meles:Unconfirmed
- Muntjac, Muntiacus reevesi: Regular
We are starting trapping the small mammals to see what lives at the lake, so the list may expand. The Nature Club is doing a lot of this work.
